Royal Foundation of the Blind
The Blind Foundation is New Zealand’s main provider of practical and emotional support for the 12,100 Kiwis who are blind or have low vision throughout New Zealand, enabling them to face their future with confidence.
Being the leading Braille sign manufacturer in New Zealand we had the privilege of equipping the Blind Foundation’s new Wellington premises with beautiful world class Braille signage.
This was one of our most important projects as we had too meet all standards and comply with what the Blind Foundation specified and most of all gathered feedback from the heart of the blind community in New Zealand, finding out what helped them the most in day to day access needs.
Lisette Wesseling, the Braille awareness consultant at the Blind Foundation (who has now passed away) was such a pleasure to deal with in the design and manufacturing process. She led the charge promoting braille into mainstream society, advocating for it to be used in official signage. She loved the way our Braille machine could print such friction-less dots saying, “I could fall asleep reading this braille.”
We wish to carry on our support for the Blind Foundation by communicating and networking together to make a more accessible country for the blind, show your support below.
